BOX SCORE
The High Point University women's soccer team fell to NC State, 3-0, in Raleigh, N.C., on Friday night. Junior goalkeeper
Andrea Ritchie saved three shots in the loss.
“I was very pleased with how we responded in the second half,” head coach
Marty Beall said. “NC State is a very good team and I thought that the way we came out showed a lot of character. We fought with everything we had, limited their shot total and had some more shots. We did some great things in the second half and that's what we need to take away from this.”
The Wolfpack opened the scoring with a goal by Alyson Santilli in the 16th minute and would get additional tallies from Jennie Krauser and Kaley Shlaes in the first 45 to head into the half up 3-0. NC State held a 10-1 advantage in shots at the half and forced Ritchie to make two saves in the period.
The Panthers played the Pack even through the second half and managed four shots, including three by freshman
Kelli Joline, but were unable to find a goal.
High Point's next match is Sunday, Aug. 29 when the team heads to Davidson, N.C., to play the Wildcats of Davidson College at 7 p.m. Last season, Davidson picked up a 1-0 win over the Panthers at Vert Stadium.
