The High Point University volleyball team lost a tough 3-1 (21-25, 19-25, 25-19, 23-25) battle to the University of Central Florida Friday afternoon at Fleming Gymansium on the campus of UNC Greensboro. The Panthers held the lead in every set but the Knights were able to come back and win the match 3-1. HPU was led by Anna Lott with 13 kills, four assists, four blocks and a service ace.

In the first set UCF held the Panthers to a -.093 attack percentage and put up four blocks against HPU. Lott and junior outside hitter Megan Smith each had three kills in the set but the Panthers committed 15 attack errors and dropped the set 21-25.

Lott and Smith once again paced HPU in the second set, with four kills each. The Panthers were able to reduce their attack errors to six but the Knights outhit HPU .276 to .118 and took the second set 15-19.
HPU took set three 25-19, finale able to sustain their early lead. Smith put up another four kills and Megan Kaminskas and Stephanie Wallin combined for three blocks in the set.

In set four Wallin put down five kills and Julie Hershkowitz came up with eight digs but the Knights just edged HPU 25-23.

Sophomore setter Holly Fong had 34 assists and 14 digs in the match and Smith totaled 14 kills. Hershkowitz ended the day with 28 digs.

The Panthers (6-5) host UNC Greensboro Monday at 7 p.m. at the Millis Center.
