Box Score The Panther volleyball team ended tournament play at the Trident Classic on a high note Saturday afternoon with a tough 3-1 (28-30, 30-28, 30-20, 30-23) victory over event-host Navy.
High Point (4-4) finished the event with a 2-1 mark after posting the victory over the Midshipmen. Senior
Michelle Feiser and freshman Ashley Mellott both garnered All-Tournament honors for their strong performances over the weekend.
Feiser, who earned All-Tournament accolades for the second straight week, finished strong on Saturday posting her third triple-double of the year with 16 kills, 25 assists and 18 digs. Her kill and dig totals were both team highs. Mellott also had a solid final match recording a personal best 15 kills with sophomore hitter Jamie Kaufman tallying 11 kills.
On defense, Jenelle Stouffer (14) and Whitney Kaltenegger (10) joined Feiser in double digits digs while Feiser paced the front line with five blocks. Freshman Lindsay Raus finished with a balanced four kills, five digs and four blocks.
"I was very proud of how we responded after dropping the opening game," said HPU head coach Chad Esposito. "We definitely buckled down and made the plays we needed to in order to even the match in game two. I think our consistent play led to an improved level of confidence on the match went continued. This was a huge step for our program and I hope to continue building on it."
The Panthers return to the court on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they make the cross town trek to face North Carolina A&T in Greensboro. Following that match, HPU heads to Providence, R.I., for their final in-season tournament of the year.
