Volleyball Posts Road Sweep at Savannah State

Box Score

The High Point volleyball team took a break from Big South Conference action on Monday night and posted an impressive 3-0 (30-17, 30-15, 30-22) victory at Savannah State.

The Panthers, playing their third match in the last four days, improved to 13-10 overall with the victory while Savannah State slipped to 3-20 this season.

"This was a great overall team performance," said HPU head coach Chad Esposito. "We came into the match very focused and really did a good job of taking care of business in all aspects of the game. I felt like we did a lot of things extremely well. A key for us tonight was our aggressive serving because it allowed us to control the tempo. It was also nice to get everybody on the team some playing time in a match."

All 12 of HPU's roster players saw action tonight with the Panthers cruising to early advantages in each of the three games. Sophomore Jamie Kaufman finished with 12 kills to lead HPU, but eight different players tallied a kill in the match. Kaufman also recorded a career best seven aces in helping the squad to a total of 13 for the match.

Whitney Kaltenegger led the Panther defense with 10 digs and Sabrina Wahid's three blocks paced the HPU front row. Freshman setter Kristina Taylor recorded 24 assists in helping set High Point to a .265 hitting performance.

High Point will continue their current six-match road swing with a pair of key Big South Conference matches at UNC Asheville (Friday) and Birmingham-Southern (Sunday) this weekend.
