Box Score Raven Truslow scored a career-high 16 points to lead High Point's women's basketball team past Coastal Carolina, 65-47, on Monday night in Big South Conference action in Conway.
Katie O'Dell collected 15 points and six boards, while Candyce Sellars notched nine points for HPU. Charlena Martin tallied eight points and three assists.
The Panthers are now 7-9 overall and 2-1 in Big South play. The Lady Chants fall to 5-10 and 1-3 in the Conference.
High Point has now won five of its last seven games. The Panthers held the Lady Chants to 27 percent shooting from the floor.
HPU led by as many as six points in the first half en route to a 23-20 halftime edge. High Point outscored CCU 42-27 in the second half and 10-2 in the stanza's first three minutes after a Truslow layup made it 33-22 at the 16:56 mark.
The Panthers extended the lead to 13 points on a jumper from Chan Ingram. Coastal got it as close as eight points at 12:03 on free throws from Courtney Brown, but High Point then went on a 9-0 run that made it 51-34 at 7:44. The lead was as high as 19 points in the second half as the Panthers captured their second win in Conway in three seasons.
Emily Mills led the Panthers with a game-high nine rebounds, while Katie Ralls gathered five assists.
Demaria Young led Coastal with 10 points and seven rebounds, while Kim Turner scored nine points, four blocks, and three steals.
High Point had 36 points in the paint and outrebounded Coastal Carolina 48-39.
The Panthers return home to face UNC Asheville on Saturday (in a game to be televised regonally by C-SET) in the Millis Center. Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm.
