Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

High Point swept Radford and Savannah State Saturday in a volleyball tri-match in the Millis Center. The Panthers defeated the Highlanders and Lady Tigers by identical 3-0 counts.

HPU downed Radford by a linescore of 30-19, 30-22, 30-28, and wrapped up a perfect day with a 30-20, 30-11, 30-13 win over Savannah State. The Panthers (14-9, 4-2 Big South) have won six consecutive matches for the first time in their Division I history, and the first time since 1996.

"This was a nice way to end a long week of matches with a victory," HPU head coach Chad Esposito said. "We've had a good mixture of conference and non-conference matches, and the opportunity to play our entire roster this week."

HIGH POINT 3, RADFORD 0

Lindsey Pickens led the Panthers with 13 kills, while Michelle Feiser provided 25 assists, Kim Anderson added 12 digs, and Jamie Kaufman provided eight kills and nine service aces.

Radford (3-13, 0-5 Big South) got eight kills apiece from Divona Cox and Kate McHugh, 10 digs from Bliss Mulligan and 24 assists and six digs from Josie Hanners. Cox added six blocks, while Elizabeth Aldredge provided five blocks.

"Our serving was critical," Esposito said. "We had 15 aces, but more importantly we kept them completely off balance offensively. That led to easy opportunities for us offensively because we were able to dig their attacks, and it helped maintain our lead in each of the three games.

"It was nice to pick up another conference win. It's important in this league to win your home games, and it's even more critical this year in the race to host a first-round conference match."

In the second match of the day, the Highlanders defeated Savannah State, 30-13, 30-18, 30-16.

HIGH POINT 3, SAVANNAH STATE 0
In the nightcap, 11 of the 12 players on HPU's roster saw action. Whitney Kaltenegger  led the Panthers with a match-high 14 kills on a .632 hitting percentage, Sabrina Wahid contributed 10 kills on a .571 hitting percentage, and Tara Mahoney provided seven kills on a .778 hitting percentage. Heather Butt tallied a match-high 25 assists and three blocks, while Jenelle Stouffer notched a match-high eight digs.

The Lady Tigers (1-19) got seven kills from Satin Kinsey and 16 assists and five digs from Patricia Ortiz.

"We were very efficient on offense, highlighted by great play at the net from Whitney and Sabrina," Esposito said.
