Davidson rallied from a 2-1 halftime deficit to score a pair of second-half goals and edge High Point, 3-2, in women's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Albion Millis Stadium.
Emily Lanham scored both goals for the Panthers, who drop to 1-1 on the season. Davidson improves to 2-2.
The Wildcats struck first when Robin French scored the first of Davidson's two goals off of corner kicks. French's goal came in the 14th minute on a header from an Anne Stevens corner kick.
Lanham, a second-team All-Big South selection a year ago, entered the game in the 23rd minute and scored her first goal in the 26th minute -- a rebound off of her own missed shot off a pass from Lena Svensson to tie the score at 1-1.
Lanham gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead in the 34th minute with an unbelievable shot almost from the goal line to the right of the net which found the left corner of the goal. HPU took that 2-1 advantage to halftime.
But the Wildcats rallied in the 52nd minute to knot things at 2-2 when Leigh Anne Hoskins' header off a cross frm Kara Koehrn beat HPU keeper Katie Smith, and Koehrn followed with the game-winner in the 57th minute off a corner from Stevens.
Smith made seven saves for the Panthers, while Sarah Hobart stopped three shots for Davidson.
High Point returns to action Friday night at UNC Wilmington. Kickoff between the Panthers and Seahawks is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
