GAME 1: Georgia State 3, High Point 1
High Point took the opening game from Georgia State, but GSU rallied to take the final three from HPU and claimed a 3-1 win in a battle of Panthers and the opening match of the 2003 High Point Invitational Friday afternoon.

The linescore was 24-30, 30-25, 30-22, 30-28.

High Point freshman Lindsey Pickens led all players with 18 kills and 11 digs in her first collegiate match. Junior Kamarsha Ryan provided 16 kills. Sophomore Jenelle Stouffer led HPU with nine digs, while junior setter Heather Butt provided 37 assists.

Ana Paula Ferreira led Georgia State with 17 kills and eight total blocks. Three other GSU players reached double-figures in kills: Molly Sapp (14), Amanda Sapp (13) and Shelbylynn McBride (13). Setter April DeCoste tallied 51 assists, a team-high 10 digs and four blocks.

GAME 2: VCU 3, Appalachian State 1
Virginia Commonwealth topped Appalachian State in the second match of the day by a linescore of 30-28, 30-19, 23-30, and 30-16.

Laura Connell recorded a team-high 14 kills and added 11 digs, while Karyn Engel (12) and Jessica Bartlett (10) also reached double-figures in kills. Griselle Lopez Pereira tallied 20 digs for the Rams, while Lindi Sheppard collected 34 assists.

For the Mountaineers (0-1), Katherine Dean had 16 kills and Jackie Jennings added 11. Starla Gufstafson recorded 20 digs and Amber Mangrum added 13, along with 43 assists.

GAME 3: Georgia Southern 3, High Point 0
Southern Conference preseason favorite Georgia Southern survived a tough test from host High Point, 30-28, 30-22, 30-22.

The Panthers (0-2) got 12 kills from Kamarsha Ryan and 11 from Lindsey Pickens. Kim Anderson led the way defensively with 12 digs, and Heather Butt recorded 33 assists.

The Eagles (2-0) got 18 kills from Martina Veiglova, 14 from Janice Pressley and 12 from Erin Martin. Megan Lippi added 13 digs. Susan Winkleman's 29 assists and Jessica Lippi's 20 assists paced the GSU attack.

GAME 4: Georgia State 3, VCU 0
Amanda Sapp
had 19 kills and Molly Sapp added 15 as the Panthers (2-0) stayed unbeaten with a 3-0 victory over VCU. The linescore was 32-30, 30-17, 30-28.

Also in double-figures for the Panthers were Ana Paula Ferreira and Shelbylynn McBride (10 kills apiece). April DeCoste recorded 55 assists and 10 digs, while McBride added 12 digs.

VCU (1-1) got 12 kills from Jessica Bartlett and 10 kills from Laura Connell. Lindi Sheppard tallied 30 assists, and Griselle Lopez Pereira added 19 digs defensively.

9:00 am: Georgia State vs. Georgia Southern
11:00 am: High Point vs. VCU
1:00 pm: Appalachian State vs. Georgia State
3:00 pm: VCU vs. Georgia Southern
5:00 pm: High Point vs. Appalachian State
