Box Score

High Point's women's basketball team dropped a 61-60 heartbreaker to Radford Wednesday night at the Dedmon Center.

The Panthers drop to 16-10 (8-5 in the Big South).

Amanda Neby scored 23 points and grabbed 11 boards to lead the Highlanders. Her biggest play of the night came when she hit Heather Perez for the back-door game-winning layup with 1:15 left to put RU up for good at 61-60. Perez finished with eight points, all in the second half.

The Highlanders improve to 9-16 overall and 5-8 in the Big South, securing at least a sixth place finish in the conference. High Point, led by Narelle Henry's 23 points, falls to 16-10 overall and 8-5 in the Conference. Henry added six rebounds and five assists. Misty Brockman chipped in 16 points for the Panthers.

The Panthers bolted out to an 11-2 lead, hitting their first three three pointers. The Highlanders slowly chipped away at the lead and used a 12-2 run, behind eight of Neby's 16 first half points, to take a brief 28-27 lead. High Point would score the final five points of the half to take a 31-28 lead at the break. Brockman led the Panthers with 11 points before picking up her second foul with 9:17 left in the half.

Henry came out firing in the second half, scoring eight straight points, including a four-point play, to help the Panthers take a 43-36 lead. Radford went on an 11-1 run, sparked by five points, a steal and a an assist on fast-break layup by Magdalena Pietrzyk to give RU a 47-44 advantage, their largest of the game, with 11:48 to go.

The final 11 minutes of the game featured four ties, four lead changes and neither team gaining more than a three-point lead. High Point held a three-point advantage with 3:05 to go, but Sherri Rickman hit a pair of freebee to get the Highs within one and Perez's layup sealed the win. Rickman finished with eight points and eight rebounds.

High Point finishes the regular season against rival Elon Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm in the Millis Center. A win (or a Charleston Southern loss to Coastal Carolina Saturday) would give the Panthers the third seed in next week's Big South Tournament.
