High Point saw its two-match win streak come to a screeching halt Sunday in a 3-0 road loss to Coastal Carolina.
The Panthers (7-8-0, 3-3-0) dropped their third-consecutive Big South match after beginning the season with three straight Conference wins.
CCU improved to 10-8-1 (4-2-0) and got the only goal it would need in the 3rd minute of play when Mary Jo Hajek took a pass from Leah Barrett and scored to give the Chants a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Chants got their other goals in the 49th minute (from Erin Blevins off assists from Kristina Fisher and Bobbie Parsons) and the 61st minute (Parsons from Blevins).
HPU outshot Coastal 12-9 in the first half, but was outshot 17-16 for the match. Jen Evans led the Panthers with five shots, while Wendy Williams and Carolyn Bader had three shots apiece.
High Point goalie Katie Myers made seven saves in net, while CCU keeper Candice Doten stopped four shots en route to the shutout.
High Point hosts Radford Wednesday night (7:00 pm) in its final regular-season Big South match of the year. The Panthers will host the 2003 Big South Tournament at Albion Millis Stadium Nov. 6-8.
