Behind 14 and 10 kills from Tiffany Guthrie and Divona Cox, Radford earned its first Big South win of 2003 with a 3-1 victory over High Point Saturday at the Dedmon Center by a linescore of 30-26, 17-30, 30-20 and 32-30.
Kamarsha Ryan had eight kills to reach the 1,000 kill plateau for her career at High Point.
The win snapped a five-match slide for the Highs, who improved to 2-17 overall and 1-4 in the Big South. High Point drops to 5-20 overall and 0-7 in the Conference.
Kate McHugh and Christine German added eight kills for RU, while Sarah Gates had a game high 36 assists. McHugh also recorded a team best 19 digs. Allison Ainsley and Elizabeth Aldredge, Rachel Newton and Gates chipped in with 16, 15, 13 and 12 respectively. Aldredge also had a match best four service aces.
Lindsey Pickens led the Panthers with a double-double of 13 kills and 14 digs. Ryan and Heather Brooks each had eight kills, while Kim Anderson dug a match best 25 balls. Also digging the ball well for HPU were Terri Eriksen with 18, Jenelle Stouffer with 16 and April Shields with 15.
The Panthers will be back in action when they host non-conference foe Elon on Tuesday night. The first serve is set for 7:00 pm.
