Women's Basketball Wins 10th, Beats Radford 64-53

Misty Brockman reached the 1,000-point plateau en route to tying her career-high of 26 points as High Point won its 10th game of the season, a 64-53 victory over Radford Wednesday night at the Millis Center.

HPU improves to 10-4, 2-0 in the Big South, while Radford falls to 4-9 (0-3).

The Highlanders are 0-3 in Big South play for the first time ever.

Brockman, who entered the game with 995 career points, scored the 1,000th and 1,001st of her career on a jumper with 13:32 remaining in the first half. The Panthers took their first lead minutes later, 15-14, on a three-pointer by Shannon O'Brien with 11:06 left. They wouldn't trail again.

High Point led 33-25 at the break. The Highlanders got as close as three points (39-36) in the second half, but the Panthers eventually pulled away for their seventh-straight victory and remained perfect at home on the season (7-0).

Radford, which dropped its sixth-straight contest, placed three players in double-figures: Amanda Neby (15 points), Ludmila Nicheporchuk (15 points), and Hanna Statsenka (12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds).

Kate Jenner led the Panthers with eight rebounds, while Narelle Henry collected seven steals.

High Point begins a two-game road swing Saturday at Coastal Carolina (5-5, 1-1). Tip-off at Conway's Kimble Arena is set for 7:00 pm.
