High Point got goals from Lori DiSalvo-Walsh and Jen Evans and Courtney Noel kept host Birmingham-Southern out of the net in HPU's 2-0 victory Saturday afternoon in Birmingham.
HPU improves to 2-3-1 on the season. BSC falls to 1-6.
DiSalvo-Walsh scored on a header off a Kerry Muscolina corner kick in the 34th minute to give HPU a 1-0 lead. The Panthers got an insurance goal in the 84th minute in near-identical fashion when Evans headed Muscolina's corner kick past BSC goalie Tally Ewing.
Noel, a freshman, recorded her first career shutout for the Panthers, stopping four shots.
The Panthers battle North Carolina State in Raleigh on Tuesday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
