Tara Maloney scored her second goal of the season to give Davidson a 2-1 victory over visiting High Point Thursday night in women's soccer action.

The Wildcats improve to 6-7-1 overall, while the Panthers fall to 2-8-2 on the season.

The Wildcats got on the board first when Brittany Eddy found a loose ball in front of the net and sent it past the outstretched hands of Panther goalie Katie Smith and into the net to score her first collegiate goal.

But HPU countered in the 29th minute when Wendy Williams picked up a loose ball in front of the net and sent it to the back right corner to tie the game at 1-1.

The score remained tied until the 71st minute of play, when Davidson's Kara Koehrn dribbled the ball down the field and passed off to Maloney, who sent the ball into the net for the game winner.

Both teams had 10 shots on goal. High Point netted eight shots on goal, while Davidson had six. Smith was credited with four saves for the Panthers.
