UNC Greensboro's Chris Goos scored the game-winning goal and added two assists to lead the Spartans to a 3-2 victory over High Point on Saturday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
UNCG improves to 6-5 on the season, while the Panthers slip to 3-8-1.
Egill Atlason got UNCG on the board first in the 5th minute when he took a beautiful pass from Goos up the middle of the field before beating High Point goalkeeper Eric Lona for the goal.
High Point came back strong as Alex Thompson scored his first goal of the season in the 29th minute. Kenzo Tochiki was credited with the assist. Less than ten minutes later, the Panthers' Kirk Rudder was taken down in the box by UNCG's James Carlson. Tochiki took the penalty kick and buried it in the bottom right of the net to give the Panthers a 2-1 advantage.
The second half was controlled by UNCG. Cliff Patterson scored his sixth goal of the season as Goos fed the ball perfectly off a corner kick in the 50th minute. The pass was tipped by Lona, but buried by Patterson at point-blank range.

on a header in the 74th minute from Kenny Bundy.
