Box Score Narelle Henry narrowly missed a triple-double (12 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists) and the Panthers held Radford to 25 percent shooting to grab a 58-38 win in Big South action at the Millis Center Wednesday night.
The 38 points was the lowest total for an HPU opponent since the Panthers beat UNC Pembroke 73-37 in 1997.
High Point (9-11, 4-4 Big South) held a slim 26-23 lead at halftime, and used an 18-2 run spread over 13 minutes of the second half to run away with a 20-point win. The Panthers trailed 31-29 after Lindsey St. John made a free throw with 17:18 to go, and held the Highlanders to 1-of-14 shooting from the field during the run.
Also in double figures for High Point was Stephanie Scott (11 points). Radford got nine points apiece from Amanda Neby, Sherri Rickman, and Kylie Williamson. It marked the first time during the conference season that Neby failed to score in double-figures.
High Point forced the Highlanders (6-13, 4-4) into 22 turnovers. Misty Brockman had five steals and Henry added four steals.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday in South Carolina. Radford continues its road trip and is in Rock Hill to face Winthrop, while High Point heads down to Conway to tangle with Coastal Carolina. Tip-off for both games is 7:00pm.
