April Wines is High Point University's Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator. She manages HPU's Student-Athlete Services as well as several other programs that support Panther student-athletes.

Under Wines's leadership, HPU's student-athletes have reached greater heights in the classroom. The Athletic Department's cumulative GPA has consistently been above 3.0 and several Panthers have been honored as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in recent seasons. In addition, High Point has posted greater numbers of Millis Scholar-Athletes and Big South Presidential Scholars every year.

Her duties involve overseeing all aspects of the Academic Support Program for Athletes, including supervising the athletic study hall program as well as monitoring and assisting student-athletes with their academic progress and overall academic welfare. Wines also administers the CHAMPS/Life Skills program, is advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Student-Athlete Mentors and coordinates HPU's community involvement.

As Senior Woman Administrator, she helps plan and develop the women's athletics programs at HPU. Wines is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletes (N4A).

Wines, who earned a pair of degrees from High Point, joined the athletic administration team after spending two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for HPU. She earned a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 2004 and a master's in Sports Studies in May of 2006. She was named Assistant Athletic Director in 2006.

A member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and North Carolina Athletic Trainers Association, she also holds certifications from NATABOC, the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer, First Aid and AED. Wines was a member of the PEK National Honor Society and earned a pair of Millis Scholar-Athlete honors for her work in the classroom.

A native of Wilkesboro, N.C., Wines and her husband Keith welcomed her son, Tanner, in March of 2013.
