Whitney Young joined the High Point Sports Medicine Staff in July 2025 and serves as the athletic trainer for the HPU volleyball team.
Originally from Horton, Kansas, Young graduated from the University of Kansas in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and The University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2010 with a Master of Science in Kinesiology. While at UNLV, she served as the graduate assistant athletic trainer with the baseball program.
After graduating UNLV, Young worked two years at Coffeyville Community College, one year as the assistant athletic trainer and one as the head athletic trainer. She then spent one year at Florida International University in Miami, where she worked with the FIU baseball program. In 2013, she went to the University of Nebraska Kearney as an assistant athletic trainer and was promoted in 2019 to the associate head athletic trainer. During her time at UNK, she worked with women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s basketball, and men’s and women’s tennis. Prior to joining the HPU staff, she spent a year at Winston-Salem State University working with the track and cross country teams.
Young is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Associate and the College Athletic Trainers Society. She lives in High Point with her husband, Antoine, and their daughter, Beckett.
