Logan Davis

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Vice President and Athletic Director Dan Hauser announced the hiring of Logan Davis as the new HPU men's golf head coach on Friday, September 13, 2024.

"I am thrilled to secure Logan Davis as the High Point University men's golf head coach," HPU Vice President and Athletic Director Dan Hauser said.  "From the initial discussions I had with Logan, it was obvious that he was a winner and has the leadership skills to elevate our golf team to championship success. Last year 9 of our 12 head coaches earned conference coach of the year accolades, and I'm excited for Logan to replicate this success as our HPU men's golf head coach!"

Davis becomes the sixth men's golf head coach in program history. He takes over the helm after coaching two seasons at his alma mater Texas State University.

"I am very honored and excited for this great opportunity to coach the men's golf program at High Point University," Davis said. "I want to thank Dan Hauser, Kim Grissett and the entire HPU athletic staff for making me feel welcome. I can't wait to meet the team and get to know the players. This is an exciting opportunity for me personally, and I am looking forward to growing the program and representing High Point University."

In 2023-24 at Texas State, he helped coach five Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, one Second Team All-Sun Belt player and two Third Team All-Sun Belt members. Davis helped guide the team to a Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Title and at the Hawaii 2023 Tournament, the team set the program low 54-hole tournament score 820 (-44).

During the 2022-23 season, Davis helped the team win three team championships at the Tempest Collegiate, Craft Farms Intercollegiate, and at the National Golf Invitational postseason event. The Bobcats finished 7-under 857 in two of their three team championships. Outside of winning championships, Davis helped the team reach seven top-10 finishes this season. Texas State opened the season at the Allstate Streamsong Invitational 28-under 836.

Davis helped the Bobcats claim the 2022 Jackrabbit Invitational Championship with a season-low four-under par. The Bobcats finished the 2021-22 season with five top-five finishes in 11 tournaments. He guided the team to a seventh-place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championship, where senior Evan White won the individual championship and advanced to NCAA Regionals.

He returned to Texas State after serving as an assistant golf pro at The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch in Boerne, Texas. There, he worked under former Bobcat golfer Corey Roberson to prepare him for a transition into coaching.

Davis played in 23 tournaments for the Bobcats in 2017-19 and finished his career with the school's third-best career-scoring average since 1993 with 73.55 in 67 total rounds.

He led the Bobcats with a 73.30 scoring average in 2017-18. His 14 rounds of shooting par or better ranks seventh among Texas State's single-season leaders since 1993.

Davis posted Texas State's third-best total score and third-best score against par at a tournament since 1993 when he finished in second place and shot an 11-under-par 205 at the Lake Charles Invitational on March 26-27, 2018.

He began his collegiate playing career at Houston, where he played two seasons and recorded four top-20 finishes. Davis earned All-State First-Team honors and was an All-Greater Houston selection as a high school senior at Atascocita High School.

A native of Houston, Davis earned a bachelor's degree in applied arts and sciences at Texas State in May 2019.

What They're Saying About Coach Davis

"I was super excited to see Logan find his passion in what he wanted to do. Although he was a good college player and impressive young golf professional, his real passion was on the coaching side. I know that this is his dream, to coach at the highest level. I've had players play for him at Texas State and they love him. Logan is an incredible player's coach; the players can relate to him. The players at High Point will love his passion for helping them both on and off the course and in the classroom. I think he is a fabulous hire for High Point University; I don't think you could have possibly made a better selection for head coach." - Bryan Gathright, Member of Golf Magazine, Lifetime Top 100 Teachers and owner of Gathright Golf

"Get ready High Point Men's Golf, to be led by a servant leader and one of the best young coaches in college golf. I was lucky enough to have Logan Davis as a player on my team then later as an assistant coach at Texas State University, where he led us to program records on and off the golf course. I'm incredibly proud and excited to see him now lead High Point University to new heights." Shane Howell Texas State University Men's Golf Head Coach
