Briley Pena starts her first year as a graduate assistant with the Women’s Basketball program for the 2026-27 season.
Before she joined HPU, Pena played for Murray State University where she played four-years of Division I women’s basketball.
“I want to be in a position where I can learn from such an experienced coaching staff while contributing to the growth and success of an amazing group of girls is such a blessing,” Pena said. “My goal as a graduate assistant is to positively impact their growth on and off the court while continuing to learn and develop as a coach myself.”
While at Murray State Pena contributed to the team winning back-to-back Championships for their regular season and the Conference Tournament. She was a guard and recorded over 700 points with an overall percentage of 36 shooting from the three point line.
Pena received her bachelor’s in organizational communication at Murray State and is studying to receive her Master of Arts in Communication and Business Leadership while being a graduate assistant.
