Prior to his time at Oregon, DePew worked at HPU for five years in a variety of roles, primarily serving as the athletic trainer for women’s soccer, baseball and men’s lacrosse.  He also served as the interim head athletic trainer, supervisor for the Witcher Athletic Training Room, drug testing coordinator and insurance coordinator during his first tenure at High Point.
Before joining the Panthers in 2010, DePew spent the previous six years working in professional baseball. He spent one season with the Seattle Mariners and five with the Detroit Tigers, all across various levels of the minor leagues.

DePew received his master’s degree in Exercises and Movement Science from the University of Oregon in 2005.  While there, he worked with the football, track & field and wrestling teams.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 2003, primarily working with the men’s gymnastics team.  He also completed a season-long internship with the Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League.

During his career, Tyler has built a strong knowledge base in injury rehabilitations, primarily focusing on functional movement and manual therapy.  He is a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Impact Trained Athletic Trainer and holds certifications in the use of both Graston tools and Kinesiotaping methods.

Originally from Illinois, Tyler currently resides with his fiancée and their two dogs in Clemmons.
