High Point University Athletics

Abby Barnes joined the High Point University Sports Medicine Staff in February 2025 and will be the athletic trainer for the women’s soccer team.
 

Barnes is originally from Wake Forest, North Carolina. She graduated from Appalachian State University in 2022, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and then graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2024 as she recieved her Master of Science in Athletic Training.
 

While attending USC, Barnes had the opportunity to work alongside the men’s soccer, football, and equestrian programs and complete a clinical immersion with the University of North Carolina Tarheel softball team. Prior to joining the High Point staff, Barnes worked at Converse University in Spartanburg South Carolina, as the lead athletic trainer for the men’s soccer, men’s basketball, cross country, men's and women's tennis, and women’s lacrosse programs.
 

Barnes is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. She also holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma Stop the Bleed.
