High Point University Women's Golf Head Coach Lyndsey Hunnell announced the addition of Delaney Shah as the Panthers' newest assistant coach in June of 2026.
"I am thrilled to welcome Delaney to our program," Hunnell said." I've had the privilege of knowing her for more than 15 years, all the way back to when we competed together in junior golf. Throughout that time, I've watched her grow into not only an outstanding player, but an incredible person. After pursuing a professional golf career over the past six years, she's bringing incredible competitive experience and knowledge that is going to help continue to grow this program. Delaney understands what it takes to compete at the highest level, and I know she'll have a tremendous impact on the development of our players both on and off the course. Just as importantly, she's someone who genuinely cares about people, so I know she is going to build strong relationships with this team."
Following a four-year career at the University of Louisville as a Division I golfer, Shah has played professionally on the Annika Women's All-Pro Tour for four years. She has 16 cuts made and eight top-20 finishes to her name, while being honored with the 2024 recipient of the Wilson Perseverance in
AWAPT. Shah was the runner-up in 2023 Maryland Open and third at the 2022 Maryland Open.
"I am honored and excited to be joining the High Point University Women's Golf program!" Shah said. "Seeing what Coach Hunnell has accomplished over the past four years motivates me to help continue the success and growth of the team. I'm looking forward to the transition from professional golf to coaching and am grateful for the opportunity to represent HPU!"
At Louisville, Shah was a four-time WGCA Academic All-American and four-time ACC Honor Roll Recipient. She competed in the 2018 NCAA Championship, 2018
USGA Women's Amateur, and 2019 British Women's Am. In 2018, Shah won the Maryland Women's Amateur, and then in 2020, she was crowned the Maryland Women's Amateur Stroke Play Champion.
A Maryland native and long-time Washington Commanders fan, Shah began her golf journey in the junior ranks.
