HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's soccer team hosted, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), NC State University in a Thursday night matchup, falling 3-0.

Head Coach Aaron McGuiness: "I thought we had a good mindset going into the game and throughout the game. We wanted to execute our press and catch them in transition moments. I felt as though we did that really well and put them under a lot of pressure. I think we were unfortunate with the penalty. I don't think the scoreline reflects how we played. Credit to NC State they are very good at the back post on set pieces and cutting in and striking from the top of the box. I'm proud of the way we took the game to them, never stopped fighting and supporting each other until the very end."
The Panthers fought hard, keeping the score 0-0 for just under 26 minutes until NC State's, Jade Bordeleau, was awarded a penalty kick. At the 37-minute mark, the Wolfpack scored a second goal of the game to put them in a 2-0 lead.
Sabba Haghgoo and Sophia Redner, both starters, recorded shots on goal, while
Brooke Potter and
Morgan Wilcox also added shot attempts.
Goalkeeper Nylah Mirshafiei played the full 90 minutes, recording six saves and facing her first penalty kick of the season. With six minutes left on the clock, she made a fingertip save to keep the score at 3-0.
HPU continued to apply pressure into the second half, holding the Wolfpack scoreless until the 81-minute mark, when Carly Montgomery headed in a corner kick. Despite the effort, the Panthers were unable to break through NC State's back line, as the match ended 3-0 in favor of the Wolfpack.
