HIGH POINT, N.C. - The High Point University women's rowing team completed its second race of the spring as they rowed against Colgate University and Marist College at Lake Brandt on Saturday morning.
Head Coach Jessica Deitrick: "Today was a day of learning and growth for our team. Every time we line up and race, our goal is to improve on our speed and race strategies, sometimes we fall short of those goals. Today we did not accomplish our goals but we still gained valuable experience from today's races. We will take this experience, and we will learn from it and prepare for our next race in Florida this upcoming week."
High Point sent four boats out, a 1v8, 1v4, 2v4, and a 2v8 to race against the Raiders and the Red Fox.
The first race of the morning was the 1v8's as HPU placed second behind Colgate with a 6:59.1 time on the water. That boat had
Grayson Williams at Coxswain, followed by
Kate Concepcion,
Saige Wiggins,
Mallory Sullivan,
Anna Venditti,
Alison Sims,
Riley Verner,
Audrey Houle, and
Willow Conley.
The 8:55 a.m. race, coach Deitrick had two HPU boats, the 1v4 and a 2v4 racing against Colgate and Marist. The Panthers in the 1v4 placed second with a time of 8:05.2 with
Arianna Ording at Coxswain,
Morgan Bowdish,
Emma Spencer,
Aliyah Strickland, and
Caroline Marchis all accompanying an oar. The 2v4 in lane four recorded a 8:37.8 time on the clock with
Lucia Calvert at Coxswain, followed by
Sydney Rogness,
Ryann Parcell,
Isabella Morlock, and
Lilly Fowler.
To wrap up the morning,
Carolyn Fox led her boat to a second place finish just two seconds behind Colgate with a 7:19.5 time on the water.

Madelyn Cummings rounded out the final race for the Panthers.
