High Point, N.C. — This week in High Point University Athletics, the men's and women's basketball teams learned their postseason fate on Selection Show Sunday as both earned automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament and will play on Thursday, March 20. The men are seeded #13 and are headed to Providence, Rhode Island, to face #4 Purdue, while the women earned a #16 seed and travel to Austin, Texas, for the First Four game against #16 William & Mary.
The HPU men's golf continues to compete in the General Hackler Invitational in Myrtle Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina on Monday and Tuesday. Baseball travels to Elon University in an early week showdown before traveling to face Minnesota for a weekend series at U.S. Bank Stadium. Men and women's track & field travel to compete in the 49er Classic on Thursday and will compete in the Bob Davidson Team Challenge at High Point on Friday and Saturday. Women's golf participates in the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head hosted by Wofford this weekend. Men's Lacrosse hosts North Carolina Friday night at Vert Stadium. Rowing competes against Marist College & Colgate University Saturday morning. To finish up the week, women's lacrosse competes against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg on Sunday.
