HPU last played Gardner-Webb University in a three-game series this past weekend. High Point got off to a strong start as Gus Hughes pitched his way to his sixth win this season, helping the Panthers take game one, 3-2. Charlie Klingler knocked one over the fence in game two, but the Bulldogs stayed strong and took the game, 8-3. With both teams taking one game each, the fate of the series lay on the final game. The Panthers sprinted out to an 11-2 advantage after only three innings of play. GWU started to catch up in the remaining innings, but a home run from Cael Chatham and Brayden Simpson sealed a Panther victory, 13-11, giving High Point the series, 2-1.

Upstate had a tough weekend against the University of North Carolina Greensboro as the two Spartans went head-to-head in a three-game series. Greensboro started strong, taking the first two games, 14-8, and, 9-1, respectively. Upstate came back with a vengeance in game three as Upstate's Braden Consaul pitched a shutout for his first win of the season. Despite the 7-0 shutout, UNC Greensboro took the series, 2-1.

High Point last faced Upstate earlier this month. The two teams were neck-and-neck throughout the game until the Panthers popped off with an outstanding six-run inning in the eighth to take the game, 13-7. HPU has won seven games over Upstate and lost 13 since the first matchup in 2008.
