CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University has swept the final Big South Conference Women's Soccer weekly awards, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
 
Skyler Prillaman Shults was tabbed Big South Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while Megan Garmey was named Big South Defensive Player of the Week and Meg Roden earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors. It's the first weekly honor for all three as the trio helped push the Panthers into the Big South Tournament with the 2-0 win at UNC Asheville last Wednesday.
 
Shults, a sixth-year graduate student, scored her first goal of the season after returning from a season-ending injury a year ago. In the 10th minute, she finished a pass from Garmey to put the Panthers ahead for good. Then, before half, Shults was on the passing end as she hit Roden to take a 2-0 lead just 22 minutes in. Her three points led the team as she made her eighth appearance (fourth start) in just 56 minutes.
 
The junior Garmey dished out her second assist of the season. This one, going to Shults, was in fashion as Garmey's pass went through the keeper's legs and into the boots of Shults. It led to the Panthers' first of two goals versus the Bulldogs. Garmey, who has started and played in every game, also helped the team to its fifth clean sheet of the season in the shutout win.
 
Roden, a freshman, scored her second of the season in 57 minutes played. The goal came in the 22nd minute via Shults as the Aussie finished the ball up and over the keeper into the right corner. It was her lone shot on goal while being her ninth start and 16th appearance.
 
The trio and the Panthers head to the Big South Tournament for a match with second-seeded USC Upstate at the Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C., beginning at 7 p.m.
