HPU last played Power Five opponent Virginia Tech. The Hokies came out firing, scoring a goal less than 10 minutes into the game. At the 27th minute, High Point's Anthony Ramirez found an opening and took a shot, which was blocked by Virginia Tech; however, Ramirez took possession of his own rebound and fired the ball into the net for the equalizer. After halftime, the Hokies scored twice more at the 60th and 70th minute. The Panthers responded with a goal of their own at the 73rd minute, but were ultimately unable to score another equalizer, resulting in a High Point loss, 3-2.

Radford University was last matched up against Queens University of Charlotte. Queens got on the board first, scoring against the Highlanders at the 35th minute. Radford was unable to score in the first half and only took three shots against the Royals. After halftime, Radford became aggressive on offense, firing off seven shots. Most attempts from the Highlanders were unsuccessful until the 74th minute when they secured the equalizer. In the last 15 minutes of the game, neither team was able to find an edge to score the winning goal, resulting in a draw between the Royals and the Highlanders.

This week will be the 30th game High Point has played against Radford since their first matchup in 1999. The Panthers currently hold a record of 14-11-4 against the Highlanders. During last year's game, HPU decimated Radford 5-1. The Panthers took six shots in the first half, with an outstanding 50 percent landing in the net. The Highlanders pushed back after halftime, scoring a goal four minutes into the second half, pushing the score to 3-1. Radford also buckled down on defense in the second, collecting three saves against the Panthers' eight shots. HPU didn't let the Highlanders' increased performance get them down, scoring a fourth goal in 57th minute before turning around and scoring again just three minutes later. The game ended with a Panther dub, 5-1.

Longwood University played in its Big South Conference Opener last Friday against the University of North Carolina Asheville. The Lancers came out strong, rifling off three shots against UNC Asheville in the first 15 minutes, two of which were on goal. After Longwood's three attempts, the team went on defense as the Bulldogs upped their game, shooting nine shots in the first half, one of which found its way into the net at the 35th minute. After intermission, neither team was able to find the upper hand to land a goal, causing frustration on both sides of the field resulting in five yellow cards being distributed during the second half, three of which were given to Longwood. The game ended with a Longwood loss, 1-0.

High Point beat Longwood last time the two met last season. HPU came out firing, shooting six shots in the first half, with two making their way into the net. Longwood struggled to get a shot off, leaving the score 2-0 at intermission. In the second, High Point ramped up its shooting, but only landed one of the 10 shots. The Lancers were finally able to fire off some shots, with two of the three taken on goal; however, none were able to find its way into the net, leading to a Panther victory, 3-0. High Point has played Longwood 19 times since their first matchup in 2003. HPU has won a massive 14 times against the Lancers, lost three, and tied twice.

HPU went to work on Saturday against Presbyterian, with graduate student Fain Buete leading the team with two goals. Buete kicked off the game with a goal at the 14th minute with some help from teammate Emily Mashinski. The rest of the half was quiet with neither team placing the ball into the net. After intermission, Mashinski got her turn at the 61st minute, rifling the ball into the back of the net off a cross kick by Alex Murphy. Five minutes later, Buete struck again, shooting her second goal and putting the Panthers up by three, but the party didn't end there. Leah Malone wanted in on the action, maneuvering the ball around the goalie and into the net off a stellar pass by Amelia Courbron. The game ended with a Panther victory, 4-0.

University of South Carolina Upstate played Gardner-Webb University this past weekend. Although neither team scored in the first half, it was anything but quiet as USC Upstate fired off 10 shots against the Bulldogs, three of which were on goal. Six minutes after halftime, Gardner-Webb scored the game's first goal, giving the team an early lead. The Spartans didn't let this get them down as they continued to rain down shots on their opponent. USC Upstate scored the equalizer at the 61st minute. The Spartans didn't stop there and scored again to put the game away at the 79th minute. The game concluded with an Upstate victory, 2-1, continuing the team's undefeated conference streak.

High Point has taken five dubs against the Spartans out of the six times the two played each other since their first matchup in 2008. Last time HPU went up against Upstate, the Panthers were handed their first loss against the Spartans. Upstate went to work scoring in the first 10 minutes of the game. High Point took seven shots in the first, but were unable to score the equalizer. After intermission, neither team was able to land the ball in the net, leading to a Spartan victory, 1-0.

Longwood women's soccer also played UNC Asheville last weekend. The Lancers out-shot Asheville seven to two in the first half. Despite this, Asheville used one of its two shots to get on the board first, scoring within the first 10 minutes of the game. The rest of the first was quiet as neither team was able to add to their score. After intermission, the Lancers wasted no time getting down to business, scoring the equalizer less than 15 minutes into the second half. Longwood took five shots in the second, while the Bulldogs ramped up their attempts to seven, but neither team was able to put the game away, leading to a 1-1 draw.

High Point has played Longwood 20 times since their first matchup in 2003. Last time the two teams played each other, High Point walked away with a narrow victory. The first half was tame with Longwood taking two shots and HPU only attempting one. After intermission, the Panthers buckled down on offense, taking 11 shots against the Lancers compared to their opponents three shots in the second. The game remained scoreless as it drew to a close until Bri Davis secured the victory, shooting and scoring with only three minutes left in the game, allowing HPU to collect its 14th dub over Longwood. High Point has lost three times and tied three times against the Lancers.

High Point last played Gardner-Webb this past weekend. Dylan Maberry led the Panthers with 18 kills over the course of the game, averaging six kills per set. Gardner-Webb came out strong, taking an early 7-3 lead; however the Panthers quickly battled back taking the first set 25-21. The second set was a nail-biter as the score was tied-up on 14 different occasions throughout the set. The Panthers eventually prevailed, taking the second 25-22. The Bulldogs lost their momentum in the third, as HPU took an early 8-3 lead. Gardner-Webb caught up after a long run, but Eve Wilson, along with a few Bulldog errors, put the game away 25-15, securing a Panther sweep.

Upstate last played Presbyterian this past weekend. The Spartans took an early lead, securing the first set 25-12. The Blue Hose fought back in the second, taking the set 25-19. The next two sets were a harrowing battle, as neither team wanted to lose the game. Both teams exchanged points in the third and fourth, neither taking a lead or going on a run. Upstate narrowly took the third and fourth sets, 25-23, securing the conference dub over Presbyterian.

Last time HPU played the Spartans, USC Upstate put up quite a fight in the first set, pushing the game into extra points until the Panthers put the set away, 29-27. After an exhausting first set, the Spartans couldn't fight much longer, losing the next two sets 25-17 and 25-19, respectively, leading to a clean sweep for the Panthers. High Point has played Upstate nine times since the first matchup in 2018, and has yet to lose a game against the Spartans.

Asheville played Charleston Southern University over the weekend. The Bulldogs came out strong against Charleston Southern, taking the first set 25-20. After the first set, the Buccaneers warmed up, taking a 10-6 lead, before going on a long run to score a 17-8 lead over Asheville. Charleston Southern took the second set, 25-19. The Buccs capitalized on their momentum and took the third set 25-17. Asheville didn't want to go down without a fight in the fourth, as the game was tied early 6-6, and again 14-14. Charleston Southern buckled down and secured the fourth set, 25-22, to take the game, 3-1.

High Point is currently on a 12-match win streak against UNC Asheville. Last time the two teams played, HPU came out swinging in the first set, taking it by a nine-point margin. The Bulldogs fought back in the second, scoring 21 points, but the Panthers prevailed taking the set, 25-21. Asheville lost its momentum in the third, giving up the set by a 15-point margin and allowing the Panthers to secure the sweep. HPU has won 20 times out of the 48 games it has played against Asheville since the first matchup in 1999.
