The High Point University women's soccer team (7-0) will be back at Vert Stadium this weekend as they host Presbyterian (3-3) on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day. HPU will be honoring seniors Mackenzie Mullins, Sydney Colby, and Alex Palmer. The Panthers look to continue their strong start to the season, most recently coming off of a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Radford. 

Matchup History 

• The Panthers are 11-3-1 all-time against Presbyterian.
• The last time the Panthers and the Blue Hose met, HPU came out on top with a 3-1 victory. Sam Gerhart and Juliette Vidal each found the back of the next for the Panthers in the victory.

Offensive Explosion

The Panthers are off to their hottest start in program history with a 7-0 record through the first seven games. The Panthers have been outshooting their opponents 109-38, scoring 20 goals, also a program-best through the first seven games of the season. HPU's scoring offense is currently ranked sixth in the nation averaging 2.86 goals per game. 

Lewis Makes Weekly Honors

London Lewis has played a crucial role in HPU's defense that is responsible for 6 shutouts in 7 games. Lewis neutralized several serious scoring chances for Radford down the stretch. In a 1-0 game, the Panther defense held the explosive Radford offense to only 2 shots on goal, and only six corners while HPU had 12.

Noticed in the Nation

For the fourth week in a row, HPU has been receiving the top 25 votes in the Top Drawer Soccer poll. HPU is also currently ranked No. 30 in the College Soccer News poll. The Panthers are currently top 10 in the nation in seventh different categories including scoring offense, goals-against average, shutout percentage, save percentage, won-lost-tied percentage, points per game, and penalty kicks. 

Salome and Sam Scoring Frenzy 

Salomé Prat and Sam Gerhart are currently leading the Panthers in scoring with five goals apiece. In the freshman's last time out she notched the first multi-goal game of her college career. Prat has been honored as the Big South freshman of the week three times this season. Gerhart's most recent goal against Radford is her third game-winning goal of the season and lifted the Panthers past the Highlanders for their seventh straight win. 

Brick Wall Defense

The Panthers are heading into Saturday with six clean sheets in seven games. The team has only surrendered one goal on 38 shots in the previous seven games, with only 18 of those shots being on target. Morgan Hairston has been in goal for the Panthers making 17 saves over the previous six contests. HPU's defense is currently ranked sixth in the nation in shutout percentage.

High Point has not lost a regular-season conference game at home since October 23, 2018. 

Across the Bench

• Presbyterian is coming off of a 3-1 victory over USC Upstate. Three different Blue Hose scored in Presbyterian's fourth conference win of the season 
• The Blue Hose finished the 2019 season with a 5-13 record. Presbyterian's season came to an end in the Big South Conference tournament quarterfinals as they fell to Campbell in double overtime by a score of 3-2.
• Presbyterian is led by Brian Purcell who is in his 32nd season as the head coach of the Blue Hose.
