The High Point University women's soccer team (9-0)(8-0) will host Longwood (4-2-3) at Vert Stadium on Tuesday night for the Big South conference tournament semifinal. The Panthers look to continue their momentum in postseason play, most recently coming off of a strong 4-1 victory over Longwood, to finish out an undefeated regular season. 

Matchup History 

• The Panthers are 13-5-3 all-time against the Lancers.
• The Panthers and Lancers met in the regular-season finale as HPU came out on top with a 4-1 victory. Sam Gerhart led the way for the Panthers with three goals while Skyler Prillaman also scored a brace.

The Panthers are off to their hottest start in program history with a 9-0 record through the first nine games. The Panthers have been outshooting their opponents 146-56, scoring 27 goals, also a program-best through the first nine games of the season. HPU's scoring offense is currently ranked fifth in the nation averaging 3.00 goals per game. 

Noticed in the Nation

After receiving top 25 votes in the Top Drawer Soccer poll for five straight weeks, the Panthers are currently No. 24 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll. HPU is also sporting its highest ever RPI of nine. The Panthers are currently top 10 in the nation in seventh different categories including scoring offense, goals-against average, save percentage, won-lost-tied percentage, points per game, and penalty kicks. 

The Sam Show

Sam Gerhart is coming off of her third multi-goal game of the season. She led the Panthers to a 4-1 victory against Longwood as she scored three goals, for her second hat trick of the season. With 10 goals on the season, Gerhart is now fifth in the nation for goals per game and point per game. Gerhart has been selected as Big South Offensive Player of the week three times this season and has also been selected to the Top Drawer National team of the week twice. 

Brick Wall Defense

The Panthers are heading into Saturday with six clean sheets in nine games. The team has only surrendered one goal on 56 shots in the previous eight games, with only 27 of those shots being on target. Morgan Hairston has been in goal for the Panthers making 24 saves over the previous nine contests. HPU's defense is currently ranked 14th in the nation in shutout percentage.

High Point has not lost a regular-season conference game at home since October 23, 2018.

• Longwood is coming off of a 4-1 loss to High Point. Amanda Arnone scored the lone goal for the Lancers 
• The Lancers finished the 2019 season with a 6-9-2 record. Longwood's season came to an end in the Big South Conference tournament quarterfinals as they fell to Radford by a score of 3-2.
• Longwood is led by Todd Dyer who is in his 27th season as the head coach of the Lancers.
