HIGH POINT, NC- High Point honored 7 seniors on Senior Night against Hampton in Vert Stadium on Saturday night. The Panthers beat the Hampton Pirates 6-2 improving their Big South record to 4-0-1 and extending their win streak to 4.
"Tonight, was a great night for the whole team, it was a total team effort." Head coach Brandi Fontaine said. "It was exciting to get some players on the field that haven't seen the field yet. I'm really excited for our seniors to go out in this type of fashion they deserve this, they're a hard-working group. Overall. I was happy with our ability to execute tonight."

The Panthers worked hard for their first goal, in the early going the two sides were constantly battling for possession. High Point would gain possession and strike first in the match to make it 1-0. Ashlyn Kearney took the first Panther shot of the game and scored putting the Panthers up 1. She was assisted by Talia Klimes and Sam Gerhart.

HPU scored two more quick goals within 30 seconds of each other to extend the Panther lead to 3-0 in the 40th minute. Ashlyn Kearney was fouled in the box and took the penalty kick and scored it to put High Point up 2-0. Senior Kearney led the way for HPU in scoring with 2 goals on the night. Less than a minute after that Alex Palmer scored in the 40'th minute as well to make it 3-0 for the Panthers. The Panthers went into halftime up 3.

The Pirates would score 5 minutes into the second half, but High Point answered the Pirates by scoring 3 more goals in the 2nd half. Sam Gerhart scored in the 56th minute to make it 4-1. Gold's hot steak continues. Carsyn Gold had the assist, this is the fifth straight game where gold has had either a goal or an assist. In the 68th minute Lauren Mazich, the sophomore scored to put the Panther's up 5-1. Appropriately the last Panther goal on senior night was a goal scored by senior Alex Denny.
The Panther defense limited Hampton to just three shots in the first half. Senior goalkeeper Talia Klimes recorded 3 saves on her senior night.
The Panthers went 2-0 in Big South play this week with wins over UNCA and Hampton.
