HIGH POINT, N.C.— High Point University women's soccer rematches with an age-old foe this Friday, facing the Elon University Phoenix for a 23rd time inside Vert Stadium at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Panthers are coming off a recent 2-1 loss to Virginia Tech, after taking the Hokies to the wire in a one-goal thriller. Elon enters Friday fresh off an ACC opponent of its own, losing a 3-0 decision on the road at No. 11 Duke.

On the Panthers
• High Point came within a goal of power-five opponent Virginia Tech last week, falling to the Hokies 2-1 on the road in Blacksburg
• Freshman Caitlin Shepherd scored the late PK in that match with Tech, her second goal of the season
• Shepherd is tied with fellow freshman forward Skyler Prillaman for a team-high in goals (2) and points (4)
• The Panthers have used a combination of three keepers through their opening four matches, with senior Emily Lyon leading her side in GAA (1.33) and save percentage (.778)
• Of HPU's 12 newcomers, 10 have made appearances this year, four have earned starts and four have earned points
 
On the Phoenix
• Elon's lone victory in 2018 came in a 5-4 overtime win over Liberty, during the side's season opener
• Three of the Phoenix' four games have already had extra time this season, holding a 1-1-1 record when a match has gone past regulation
• Junior forward Taylor Paradoski leads her team with three goals, all of which she scored in a hat-trick performance against Liberty
 
Series Notes:
• The Phoenix lead the all-time series with the Panthers at 14-3-5, yet HPU has won two of its last three meetings with Elon
• High Point holds a 5-24-6 against current CAA members all-time, but are 3-2-1 against those same programs over the previous four seasons
