High Point Notes:
• Last time out, the Panthers suffered a 3-0 setback at No. 3 South Carolina. After holding the potent Gamecock attack in check for the first 30 minutes, HPU yielded two goals in the final 15 minutes before half time.
• Senior goalkeeper
Alex Hank allowed her first goal of the season after 211:12 scoreless minutes in net. Hank played the entire contest after splitting the last two games with
Emily Lyon (Georgia) and
Charlotte Kennedy (Ohio).
• The Panthers have been outshot in the first four games of the season, 76-24. HPU has allowed 20 shots in each of the last three games, but has ceded only four goals.
• Among Big South teams that have played at least four games, the Panthers have allowed the fewest goals (4).
• HPU has already pitched two shutouts this year, tied for most in the conference. Last season, High Point tied for the conference lead with 10 clean sheets (Liberty).
• The Purple & White have 15 seniors on the team, which accounts for nearly half of the 32-member roster. The senior class has won 39 games in three-plus years and needs six wins to become the all-time winningest class in HPU Div. I history.
Ole Miss Notes:
• The Rebels are 3-0-1 on the year, defeating Alabama State (8-0), Northwestern State (8-0), and Lamar (3-0) while drawing with No. 23 Michigan (1-1).
• Ole Miss leads the nation in total goals (20), and ranks third in assists (17), shots per game (25.75), and shots on goals per game (13.0).
• Junior forward CeCe Kizer is second in the NCAA with five goals through the first four games this season. She was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week in the first week.
• The Rebels were picked ninth in the preseason SEC poll.
Series Notes:
• The Panthers and Rebels are meeting for the first time in women's soccer.
• This match marks the first time that HPU women's soccer has played in the state of Mississippi.
• This is the third of four matchups against SEC teams for High Point this season. The Panthers have dropped decisions at Georgia (1-0) and No. 3 South Carolina (3-0) prior to tonight's match. HPU travels to take on Auburn next Friday, Sep. 8.
• High Point is 0-5-2 all-time against members of the SEC.
