High Point Notes:
• Last time out, HPU dropped a 1-0 decision at Georgia on Sunday. The Panthers were outshot 20-5, but played even with the Bulldogs until allowing a goal in the 71st minute.
• The Panthers have been outshot in the first two games of the season, 36-14. HPU recorded six of the first nine shots in the season opener at App State, but have been outshot 33-8 in the last 162:24 since
Maggie Gruber's goal against the Mountaineers.
• Senior goalkeeper
Alex Hank has not allowed a goal through 135 minutes in net so far this year. The keeper played the full 90' against App State before making five saves in the first half at Georgia.
• The Purple & White have 15 seniors on the team, which accounts for nearly half of the 32-member roster. The senior class has won 38 games in three-plus years and needs seven wins to become the all-time winningest class in HPU Div. I history.
• The Purple & White were selected second in the Big South Preseason Poll behind defending champion Liberty. HPU garnered two first-place votes with the Flames claiming the other eight.
Ohio Notes:
• The Bobcats are 2-0-0 on the season after defeating Robert Morris (2-0) and Butler (1-0) at home to begin the year. Ohio has allowed just eight shots on goal in its first two matches and recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 2012.
• Ohio is 2-0-0 for the first time in program history after going 5-12-1 (3-8-0 MAC) last year. The Bobcats were projected fourth in the MAC's East Division this season.
• Senior Bryce Hueber scored one of Ohio's three goals over the weekend and is one of the team's top returning scorers. Hueber tied with sophomore Alivia Milesky last year for the team lead with four goals. Hueber scored Ohio's lone tally vs HPU last year.
Series Notes:
• HPU won the only previous matchup between the Panthers and Bobcats, 2-1 in overtime, last year in Athens, Ohio.
• High Point tied the game in the 85th minute on a goal by Callyn Loughery before winning it via a PK from
Kelsey Perrell in the 95th minute after
Bailey Beattie was taken down in the box.
•
Alex Hank made six saves in the contest. HPU was outshot 14-12, but put eight shots on net compared to Ohio's seven.
• High Point is 2-2-4 in home openers under head coach
Marty Beall, winning last year over Appalachian State, 2-0.
