Editor's Note: The Panther Club's Student-Athlete Excellence Fund provides the resources for High Point University student-athletes to become champions in competition, the classroom, and in the community.  It is during this time of year that the Panther Club recognizes the outstanding classroom performances of High Point University's extraordinary student-athletes.  This year we honor 22 HPU student-athletes who have achieved a 4.0 GPA in 2014. 

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Meet Christine Rickert, a Junior from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  She competes as a thrower on the women's track & field team while carrying a double majoring in Spanish and international relations with a minor in English.  After she graduates, Christine plans to go to law school and work in education law to help give all children the opportunity to receive a meaningful education. 

Christine was named the 2014 Big South Field Athlete of the Year and holds the school record in javelin with a throw of 156'9" (47.78m), set on 4/6/13 at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational.         

Christine is truly a champion in competition and the classroom.  If you are inspired by the extraordinary achievements Christine has accomplished, please make a gift in her honor to the Student-Athlete Excellence Fund.  The resources gathered by the Student-Athlete Excellence Fund are used to upgrade athletic facilities, provide athletic scholarships, and enhance the student-athlete experience.
