HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's soccer team played Coastal Carolina to a scoreless draw on Wednesday afternoon inside Vert Stadium. The Panthers tied the HPU Div. I single-season record with their eighth shutout.

"I felt we were just OK today," head coach Marty Beall said. "We did not have the energy and work ethic we are accustomed to seeing out there. Thankfully we were able to do enough to get a 0-0 result."

With the draw, HPU moves to 7-2-4 (2-1-1) on the year while the Chanticleers are now 7-4-1 (3-0-1).

High Point has now recorded three-straight shutouts and has not allowed a goal in the past 320 minutes of action. Sophomore Alex Persiani stopped six shots for her sixth clean sheet of the season, two shy of the HPU Div. I single-season mark.

Sophomore Becca Rolfe put another shot on goal in the 12th minute that was stopped and Beattie fired another solid attempt in the 33rd that was deflected by Austin.

In the second half, Beattie fired a shot off a great feed from redshirt-junior Kelsey Perrell in the 54th minute, but the attempt went just wide. Persiani made a pair of solid saves in the 59th and 64th, then made another stop at 68th to keep the score knotted at 0-0.

The Panthers earned a pair of corner kicks in the 96th and 97th minutes but could not convert. Coastal put a shot on goal that was saved by Persiani at the 99th minute and the game proceeded to go into a second overtime.

HPU put together an excellent opportunity in the 109th minute, but a shot from sophomore Bri Jean-Charles was fired just wide, ending the game in a 0-0 scoreless draw.??The Panthers were outshot by a 21-14 margin on the night with four shots on goal compared to six for the Chanticleers
