Day One Results

Evan Emery and Justin Doehr picked up wins for the High Point University men's track & field team at the UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Ryan Venable and Jevin Monds also ran personal bests at the meet.

"It was a very good day," said head coach Mike Esposito. "Obviously, I am very proud of Evan and Justin picking up wins and in addition Ryan and Jevin ran very well. The 600 isn't run very often but Justin's time is significant and he has had a great season so far."

Emery won the 60-meter dash in 6.89. He finished just ahead of N.C. State's Tobias Palmer who came in second in 6.91. By shaving time of his previous personal best of 6.90, Emery moved closer to the HPU record in the event. Justin Conoway set the school record of 6.84 at the 2008 Big South Championship.

Redshirt senior Jevin Monds finished the 3,000-meter with a personal-record time of 8:36.74. He placed third in the event, second among collegiate competitors behind Duke's Lucas Talavan-Becker. His previous best of 8:44.42 came in 2010. Sophomore Jonathan Riley placed ninth in 9:18.82.
