Director of Athletic Training
Matt Schooler announced the addition of Will Conlon and Jenny Mason to the Athletic Training staff on Friday. Conlon is a High Point graduate who received his master's degree from Georgia State and Mason joins HPU after graduating from Appalachian State.
Conlon will work primarily with the volleyball, cross country and track & field teams while Mason will provide coverage for the women's soccer program.
“The Athletic Training staff is ecstatic to have Will and Jenny join us this year,” Schooler said. “Will is a great addition and a former graduate of the Athletic Training Education Program at HPU. He has experience at both a Division I university and as an athletic trainer in the NFL. Jenny comes from a great athletic training institution in Appalachian State University and has experience working in many different rotations at ASU. I could not be happier with the athletic trainers that we have providing medical care for our student-athletes this year.”
Mason worked as a athletic training student for four years at Appalachian State, providing athletic training services to all 20 sports in the school's Division I program. Her specific sports responsibilities included football, track & field, baseball and cheerleading. The Statesville, N.C. native spent the last two summers working Appalachian State summer camps, serving as a first responder for men's soccer, wrestling, baseball and track camps. She was a four-year member of the Appalachian State Athletic Training Students' Association, serving as the group's vice president in 2009-10.
Conlon returns to High Point University after earning his master's degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State in December 2010. He received his bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from High Point in 2008 and was a member of the track & field team in 2005. The Mebane, N.C. native has done two internships in the NFL, most recently working with the Atlanta Falcons. He also did an internship with the Carolina Panthers. While a student at HPU Conlon provided coverage for the men's basketball and women's soccer teams while also working at local high schools. He worked with the football teams at T.W. Andrews, Southern Guilford and Eastern Alamance High School. While working on his master's, Conlon served as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech. His specific sport responsibilities were football, baseball and swimming & diving.
Both Conlon and Mason are Certified Athletic Trainers and members of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
