Liberty got goals in the 41st minute from Liz Rudolph and the 46th minute from Tanya Payne to claim a 2-0 victory over High Point Tuesday night in Big South Conference women's soccer action in Lynchburg, Va.
The Panthers drop to 6-6-0 (2-2-0 in Big South play), while the Lady Flames improve to 4-7-0 (3-1-0).
High Point goalkeepers Hannah Nail (three) and Courtney Noel (four) made a total of seven saves.
Liberty got on the scoreboard at the 40:51 mark when an Ashley Braam shot was blocked by Nail, but Rudolph put the rebound back from five yards out for a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Flames got an insurance goal at the 45:57 mark when Payne put back a rebound off a blocked shot by Noel just moments into the second half.
Natalie Meyer had three saves in the Liberty net for her second shutout of the season.
For the game, the Lady Flames held a 15-8 advantage in shots. Jen Evans led the Panthers with three shots.
The Panthers return to action Saturday at home when they host Charleston Southern. Kickoff at Albion Millis Stadium is set for 1:00 pm.
