Women's Soccer Defeated By Liberty, 3-1

Liberty's Sarah Davis scored a goal and had an assist to lead the Lady Flames to a 3-1 victory over host High Point in Big South Conference women's soccer action on Thursday night at Albion Millis Stadium.

High Point dropped its first Big South game of the season and falls to 5-6-0, 3-1-0 in the Big South, while Liberty improves to 2-10-1 and 2-1-0 in the conference.

Davis scored the first goal of the night when she launched a long shot close to the center circle and put the ball past High Point goalkeeper Katie Myers in the 26th minute of the first half.

The Panthers answered after halftime when they tallied an unassisted goal from Carolyn Bader in the 58th minute of play to tie the game at 1-1.

However, the tie would be short lived. Mandee Judd scored the eventual game- winning goal with Davis earning the assist. Later in the second half, a third goal was added when Jenny Davis scored unassisted from deep in the box.

Myers had four saves for HPU, while Liberty goalkeeper Christie Goodman-Williams had five saves in the win.

High Point will be back in action against UNC Asheville in a Big South Conference showdown next Wednesday night. The kickoff is slated for 4:30 pm at Albion Millis Stadium.
