Wendy Williams scored the game-winning goal in the 66th minute of play to lead the Panthers to a 2-1 win over Longwood in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
HPU snapped a two-game skid and improved to 6-7-0, while Longwood fell to 8-5-1.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute on a goal by senior
Emily Lanham unassisted on a loose ball in front of the net.
The Lancers responded early in the second half when
Phoebe Munson tied the game at 1-1 in the 50th minute.
But the Panthers responded and got Williams' game-winning goal in the 66th minute unassisted on another loose ball that had bounced off the post.
Katie Myers made one save in goal and won her fifth game of the season for HPU.
The Panthers will be back in Virginia next Friday when they travel to Lexington to play future Big South Conference foe VMI (4:00 pm).
