UNC Wilmington got a pair of goals both halves of play en route to a 4-0 win over High Point on a rainy Sunday at Albion Millis Stadium.
The Panthers fall to 1-3-1, while the Seahawks improve to 4-2 on the season.
With the remnants of Tropical Storm Hanna pouring down, Ann Weaver helped the Seahawks (4-2) draw first blood with a goal in the 14th minute. She took a pass from Kristine Mengle and redirected it past HPU keeper Courtney Noel to score the first of her two goals and give UNCW a 1-0 advantage.
The Seahawks made it 2-0 in the 29th minute on a spectacular goal by Caroline Renkin, who launched a long ball from 25 yards out which hit the inside of the left post and bounced into the net.
Weaver struck again in the 55th minute when she scored off a deflection just in front of the goal. The Seahawks' Blair Strickland completed the scoring in the 69th minute when she found the net from just outside the six-yard box off an assist from Erin Gonzalez.
Rachael Wilson and Danielle Hammer combined on a shutout for UNCW. Wilson made three saves. Noel stopped four shots for HPU.
The Panthers return to action next Saturday at Birmingham-Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
