Greg Lewis recorded a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds as Winthrop (9-8, 3-1 Big South) held off a feisty High Point squad, 83-75, at the Millis Center.

The Panthers (6-11, 2-3) have dropped four straight since beginning the Big South Conference slate 2-0. Joe Knight poured in a career-high and game-best 27 points for HPU.

Winthrop built a 30-16 advantage, only to see the Panthers put together a 17-6 run to head into halftime trailing by just three (36-33). But the Eagles led by as many as 20 points in the second-half thanks to Lewis (who had a double-double before intermission), Tywan Harris (14 points), and Sheldon Bailey (10 points).

Joining Knight in double-figures for the Panthers were Dustin Van Weerdhuizen (13 points), and Steven Cornette, who hadn't played in over a month due to oral surgery but managed 10 points.

High Point was without head coach Jerry Steele, who spent the evening at home recovering from a kidney infection.
