Eric Dudley joined High Point University in 2008-09 and has led HPU student-athletes to nine national championship appearances, seven individual conference championships, and 35 school records. Dudley oversees the throws, vertical jumps, and combined event athletes.
Dudley, a USTFCCCA Certified Throws Specialist, has had greatest success with High Point University Javelin throwers, with athletes consistently on the podium at the Big South Conference Championships and qualified to the preliminary rounds of the NCAA Championships. Christine Rickert was third at the US Junior Championships in 2013 and broke the Conference Championships Meet Record in 2014.

HPU Throwers have set school records in the Javelin, Shot Put, Discus, and Weight Throw under Dudley’s direction.

The High Point University pole vault program has caught fire recently. With the Men’s and Women’s Big South Conference Pole Vault titles in 2014, Austin Miller and Jill Marois lead a cadre of young talent in this highly technical event.

Dudley graduated Summa Cum Laude in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics from the Honors College of Washington State University in 2003. He also earned a master's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in biomechanics and motor control from the University of Illinois.
Dudley finished his own running career in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials. Initially a recruited walk-on, he finished his collegiate career as the NCAA Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year in 2003, was a two time Division I All-American and a two time Academic All-American. Dudley won the Pac-10 title in the 400-meter hurdles in 2001.
He is married to HPU assistant coach Amber Larsen, a former hurdler herself, and the two welcomed a daughter, Charlotte, in 2012.
