HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University's
Jefferson Amaya and
Josh Caron have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, the CSC announced on Tuesday.
The duo has been impactful on and off the field, crushing their studies as finance majors while leading the Panthers to new heights with two 2025 Big South Conference trophies and the program and school's first second round NCAA Tournament win for a spot in the Sweet Sixteen as the highest national seed ranking (#10) ever to show for.
#4 Jefferson Amaya, Sr., Midfielder
This is the senior's third straight CSC Academic All-District award as he has been a force in and out of the classroom. Amaya has made his mark at High Point and the Big South as he won a major award each season he's laced up. The four-year program changer, who won Big South Freshman of the Year in 2022, Big South Offensive Player of the Year in 2023, Big South Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 and Big South Midfielder of the Year in 2025, is the first player in conference history to ever win a different major award in four straight seasons. Amaya, a Big South First Team captain, has continually been an anchor for the Panthers, starting in all 19 games while logging 1451 minutes and scoring three goals — one being a game-winner — and assisting four with one multi-assist match versus ranked Marshall.
#1 Josh Caron, R-Jr., Goalkeeper
Caron is the epitome of student-athlete, excelling on and off the field and adds CSC Academic All-District to his list of accolades this season: Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Big South Goalkeeper of the Year, Big South All-Academic Team and First Team. The redshirt junior goalkeeper has started in all 19 games — with nine complete shutouts and 10 combined clean sheets — on 167 shots faced in 1692 minutes played for a 14-1-4 record. Caron has been the definition of safe hands all season, allowing just 13 goals for 0.692 goals against average which is 14th best in all of NCAA Division I. Caron follows in the footsteps of the legendary Holden Trent, who was a two-time Big South Goalkeeper of the Year, as he is the first Panther to earn this honor since Trent did in 2021 and 2022. In the classroom, Caron has maintained nearly a 4.0 GPA while studying finance to become the first Panther named Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year since Noah Holmes in 2023.
Amaya and Caron will now be nominated for CSC Academic All-America® honors as the first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 16, 2025.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
