High Point University is committed to providing the best opportunities for its student-athletes, both on and off the field, and one of the most important aspects of any quality athletic department is its athletic training program. Headed by Matt Schooler, HPU’s top-notch athletic training staff handles the day-to-day, minute-by-minute demands placed on the human body. The responsibilities of HPU’s athletic trainers are key to player development.

Schooler and each of HPU’s assistant athletic trainers are certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) and licensed by the State of North Carolina. With locations in both the Millis Center and Steele Center, HPU’s athletic trainers provide comprehensive sports medicine services for The Panthers' intercollegiate athletes as well as visiting team athletes, including injury prevention, support and rehabilitation for injured athletes, as well as medical emergency management. All of HPU’s athletic trainers are qualified to react to spontaneous, on-the-field injuries, manage and treat them, and, when it is necessary, follow through on athletes’ comprehensive rehabilitation programs under a physician’s direction.

The coaching staffs of the Panthers’ 15-sport, women’s and men’s athletics program rely heavily on the input of Schooler and his staff as they prepare lineups for games and analyze depth charts for future seasons.
