MLK Day of Service Video
HIGH POINT, N.C. - A number of HPU athletic teams donated their time and efforts Monday to participate in High Point University's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
The men's and women's soccer teams spent the day helping to organize facilities and supplies at West End Ministries in High Point, while the track & field/cross country teams did a thorough clean up of the greenway near the High Point University campus and surrounding neighborhoods.
Volleyball volunteered to clean classrooms, lockers and hallways at the Penn-Griffin School of Arts while laying bricks outside. Across town, women's lacrosse worked to clear an area of land developed by Habitat for Humanity to build a relief garden.
Throughout High Point University, more than 600 volunteers contributed 1,500 hours of service this Martin Luther King Jr. Day – part of the 100,000 hours service that the university contributes each year.
